It was with a huge smile that Robert appeared at the press conference today. With his team ranked in number two in Portugal for the first time he took the opportunity to thank all his riders and people that believed in the project he put together for the team all those years ago.
We had the opportunity to ask him one question and this is what he had to say (Question: now that you got to second when can we expect to see you at the top of Portugal's ranking).
"That would be awesome, and it is certainly a goal for our team as we prepare each season, however the number one team is called Superteam for a reason, and I have to admit reaching it's heels is very difficult let alone surpass them."
He also mentioned the addition of Carlino to the team staff after more than 10 seasons helping the team achieve the position it has today. As soon as he finished a short holiday he was put straight to work taking under his wing a few of the team's promising riders, which were happy to see their mentor return.
We asked Carlino what emotions he was going through and this is what he said.
"This team has always been more like a family than an actual racing organization. I was saddened as my career approached it's end because it's always hard to leave behind the people you spent so many years with. It was with great pleasure that I received the invitation to remain part of this family and I am thrilled to continue contributing to this great team"
